Plasma and LCD TVs

Old televisions are the past and plasma and LCD TVs are the future. Consumers are having to make a choice between the new technologies and most do not know what the difference is. They are having to depend on the sales people to lead them in the right direction. Some sales people do not really know that much about the new technology either. They can lead you the wrong way and you may end up with something you did not want.

Think about what you will be watching when you choose between an LCD or plasma television. They are basically the same, but are manufactured by different companies. Even though they have many similarities, both are different in the way they deliver the picture to you. Both plasma and LCD television's are similar in their display of backgrounds. LCD TVs have higher contrast than plasmas so the black looks blacker and the white looks whiter.

Plasma and LCD TVs also differ in the way they process and display incoming signals. These differences mean differences in viewing certain images like fast-paced sports or close-up environmental shots. The plasma is better for night viewing. LCD televisions are better if watched from a room with a lot of sunlight. The TVs utilize electric charges and twist and untwist liquid crystals. This will sometimes block light and emit blacks. They have made great improvements in the black levels of TVs and today, you can view nighttime images just as easily as daytime ones.
